Dr. Dennis is an organizational psychologist and former human resource executive. He earned a Ph.D. in clinical and organizational psychology from Purdue University. Following his graduate work, Dennis joined the faculty at Purdue where he developed a leadership and organizational behavior learning laboratory for undergraduate health care professionals and consulted with local health care organizations in both clinical and organizational psychology. In addition to Purdue, Dennis has served on the faculty of several universities including Central Washington University and the University of Washington. Dennis provides organization development, survey and program evaluation research, and psychological consulting services to a wide range of for-profit, non-profit and governmental organizations. In 1999 he took a sabbatical to serve as Vice President of HR and OD for a regional construction company as they re-engineered business processes and developed a culture of collaboration and innovation to support rapid growth and eventual acquisition.
Dennis’ leadership and community experience includes service as a naval officer at Bethesda Naval Hospital, Disaster Mental Health with the American Red Cross, President of the Washington State Psychological Association and participation on several non-profit and for-profit Boards. He has been a mentor for the Lake Washington Human Resources Association and is an active member of several professional committees in organizational psychology. A charter member of the Northwest Family Business Advisors, he recently made a presentation on conflict management to this group of business advisors from the legal, financial and behavioral science professions.
Firmly committed to continuous professional improvement and optimal ways to apply psychological knowledge to business challenges, Dennis completed the Management Program at the University of Washington (Class of 1999). The Eckerd College Leadership Development Institute certified Dennis as a master trainer in the Conflict Dynamics Profile© (www.conflictdynamics.org). He has taught and consulted in the area of conflict management for 25 years.
His personal mission is to bring a deep understanding of people, teams, and applied measurement and research to help executives meet the many challenges facing companies in an increasingly competitive global economy.
