Carolyn Kessler

Carolyn Kessler has 20 years experience in coaching, training and consulting roles. Carolyn specializes in supporting individual and corporate clients to achieve both professional and personal goals. With her broad-based experience, she has extensive knowledge of all facets of career decision-making and advancement including self-assessment, job search, career research, career change, networking and marketing, resume development, time management, interviewing, negotiation, leadership and management development, spousal relocation, and work/life balance. In her work at Bridgeway Career Development, Carolyn provides face-to-face services in Mercer Island and also provides telephone-based services.

  In addition to providing services for Bridgeway Career Development, Carolyn has a successful 17-year track record in career consulting and executive coaching for one of the world's largest international career management firms. She has worked with companies ranging in size from single office local firms to major regional, national, and international organizations. Carolyn is a generalist who also has in-depth experience in many industries including high tech, biotech, health care, aerospace, manufacturing, hospitality, financial services, telecommunications, nonprofits, and academia.

Carolyn completed her B.A. in Spanish at the University of Washington and her M.S. in Organization Development from Central Washington University. She has completed advanced training with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and is a member of the Puget Sound Coaches Association and the International Coach Federation (ICF). She is certified by CEO (Center for Executive Options) and is a member of their National 
Executive Coaching Team. Prior to the Boeing Company’s relocation of its corporate offices from Seattle to Chicago, Carolyn worked with their Executive Development Program (EDP) serving as a coach to high performance, high potential managers in an intensive two-year professional development program.

Carolyn represents the 4th generation in her family to live in the Seattle area and loves the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. In her free time, she is involved in family, recreational and community activities as well as the local music and theater scene. She enjoys international travel and has journeyed to 45 countries on 6 continents.


Maria Escobar-Bordyn

Maria brings more than 20 years of experience to her practice, coaching and advising individuals and organizations in transition, human performance, career management, and leadership and performance development. A highly capable executive coach, she understands the relationship between individual and organization success. Adept at understanding diverse organizational cultures and business models, Maria brings a thoughtful, pragmatic and outcome-based approach to her work, motivating clients to identify and achieve success.
  A dynamic facilitator, Maria consults with corporations, professional associations and non-profit boards on leadership issues, as well as leads corporate workshops in leadership development, high performance work teams,  and career and change management. 

Prior to opening her private practice, Maria was affiliated with a global human performance consulting firm, the last four years as Managing Consultant for their state of Washington practice. In her roles as Managing Consultant and Senior Consultant, she coached hundreds of executives and senior executives in multiple industries, diverse company sizes and functions. In addition, she advised organizations on effectively managing change, and developing, managing and retaining talent. In addition, Maria designed and delivered numerous seminars, and was selected as a Master Trainer, training and mentoring over 100 consultants around the United States.

Her previous experience includes seven years in corporate HR at two Fortune 100 firms; ten years in a private consulting practice, and owned a successful children’s bookstore. Maria has a B.A. in Social Ecology as well as a Certificate in Organizational Development from the University of California, Irvine.

Maria is a transplant to the Northwest, and lived in enough places growing up to have attended 14 schools before graduating from high school, including a number of years in Mexico.  Any spare time she has she spends with family, reads anything she can get her hands on, and fits in the occasional snow ski day with friends.


Janet Scarborough Civitelli, Ph.D.

Dr. Janet Scarborough Civitelli founded Bridgeway Career Development in 1999 and ran the company until 2009, at which time Carolyn Kessler and Maria Escobar-Bordyn assumed ownership of Bridgeway.
