Now Discover Your Strengths by Marcus Buckingham
Buckingham makes a compelling argument for emphasizing and developing our talents rather than focusing on improving weaknesses. A precursor to the book Strengthsfinder 2.0 written by Tom Rath (which you will need to buy if you want access to the most updated Strengthfinder questionnaire), Buckingham's book is richer in detail and a more compelling and motivating read.

What Should I Do With My Life by Po Bronson
A must read for anyone at a critical career juncture contemplating a change. There is no magic "here-are-the-6- steps-to-a successful-career-change' in his narrative. What you will find are 45+ stories of people who have either changed their career, wished they had, tried and couldn't. Most weren't neatly and tidily done, but all are a fascinating, motivating read.

Finding Your Own North Star by Martha Beck
Anything Beck writes is a delight to read. Through her compelling and often humorous narrative and numerous exercises or questions that prod us to think, she helps the reader to identify their own "North Star" and how to get there.

The First 90 Days by Michael Watkins
Whether you've accepted a new position, or have taken a new role in your current organization, this is a must read before you start.  Watkins provides the framework for creating a roadmap and plan that begins before Day 1 and can accelerate one's successful transition
